The job
What was there
A residential fence line in New Braunfels. The new cedar was going up and the old fence had to be gone. What we handled was the tear out side of that: the pickets, the rails and the brush that had grown into the line.
Old fence is a bad DIY load. It is long, it is heavy, it is full of nails and staples, and most transfer stations charge by weight for it. One trailer takes the whole run.

How it went
Four steps, one trailer
-
01
Old fence down, stacked at the curb
Pickets and rails came off and went straight to the street in a stack rather than a sprawl. A tidy pile loads faster and does not block the sidewalk while it waits.
-
02
The brush went with it
Fence lines collect growth. When the pickets come off, whatever was growing through them comes out too. That brush was piled with the lumber and left on the same load.
-
03
Loaded off the street
The trailer backs to the pile. Nails in old cedar are the reason this pile does not belong in the back of a family car, and the reason it does not sit at the curb for a week.
-
04
Curb swept, nothing left behind
Loose pickets, broken rails and the small stuff that falls out of a stack. The point of the job is a clean strip of grass and a clean street.
Working with a fence crew
Tear out on one day, new fence on the next
Plenty of fence companies build but do not haul. If your installer leaves the old line at the curb, that pile is exactly what this trailer is for.
