San Marcos generates a specific kind of work. It is a university town, so a huge share of the housing turns over on the same few weeks in May and August, and what gets left behind is mattresses, couches, particle board desks and whatever would not fit in the car. It is also an older town with 1980s and 1990s backyards, which means weathered decks, hot tubs nobody has filled in three years and fences that have been leaning since the last hard freeze.
