Hot tub loaded whole on the trailer

There are two ways a hot tub leaves a backyard. It gets carried out whole, or it gets cut apart where it sits. This one went whole, laid flat on the trailer over moving blankets.

Cutting is loud, slow and messy. The shell is acrylic over fiberglass with a foam core, and a reciprocating saw turns that foam into confetti that ends up in the grass, the pool and the neighbor's yard. It is also the only option when there is no path wide enough for the shell, which is why the walk gets looked at before anything gets unplugged.

The blankets in the photo are not decoration. A bare shell on a steel trailer bed slides, and a shell that slides scratches everything it touches on the way to the landfill.

Is the power disconnected

Most tubs are hard wired to a breaker at a disconnect box on the wall. That has to be off, and the whip pulled, before anything moves.

Is it drained

A full tub holds a few hundred gallons. Nothing lifts until it is empty, and draining takes longer than most people expect.

How wide is the tightest gate

That single measurement decides whole or cut. Measure the narrowest point of the whole path, not just the gate.
